Jeremy Knight began his Jiu Jitsu path in 1998. He trained exclusively at Muskoka Kickboxing with Coach Bill Quinn and a small group of dedicated practitioners who were committed to the discipline. He has always been captivated by the dynamic and evolving nature of Jiu Jitsu. Jeremy balanced himself between a number of sports over his on and off years of training, including racing mountain bikes, snowcross & BMX and working full time as a Paramedic for Muskoka EMS. The “mind-body awareness” achieved through martial arts and specifically Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, translated well to his other sports and served as good injury prevention. His two sons (now 17 & 13) also trained for a number of years, while Jeremy instructed the kids' classes and coached them at weekend tournaments. Muskoka Kickboxing began friendly competitions with Professor Steve Lin and Lin Martial Arts in Markham, early 2000’s. They trained with world class athletes at Lin’s as preparation for various tournaments annually. Jeremy would achieve his blue belt grading in 2005 under Professor Fabio Holanda of Brazilian Top Team Canada. Lin Martial Arts at that time was a BTT Canada affiliate. In 2010, Jeremy achieved his Purple Belt under Professor Steve Lin. Between family life and work he managed to train and travel internationally for over a decade with UFC Fighter Kyle Nelson cornering and providing acute medical care. During this time, Jeremy tapped into rolling sessions with Eddie Bravo (10th Planet Jiu Jitsu), Matt Thrornton (Straight Blast Gym), Ryan Couture, Bryan Caraway, Mark Bocek, Joe Lauzon and many other Professional Mixed Martial artists. In 2011 Muskoka Kickboxing affiliated themselves with Joe Elliot & Big Country MMA, sharing club matches and training sessions. In July of this year Jeremy achieved his Brown Belt under Professor Justin Bruckmann. Jeremy is an advocate for continuous learning and evolution in sport. He is driven by the daily progression he witnesses in his teammates and students. He encourages anyone seeking the single best way to gain flexibility and stay in shape, to hit the mats.
